Tell Your Senator: Impeach
If you believe the Capitol assault of January 6th, 2020 was wrong, let your Senator know that you support a “yes” vote on impeachment.
The question at hand is simple: do we allow Presidents of this nation to summon mobs to attack the institutions of government? Is that an impeachable offense, or is it acceptable for any sitting President to behave in this way?
If you think what happened is unacceptable, let your Senator know.
Tell your Senator that you support impeachment. And tell them that you will support them to make a decision based on factual evidence, the law, and basic ethical standards. Tell them that you will support them at the polls in primary and general elections for doing this.
This question has nothing to do with Democrat or Republican. It’s not about protecting life, or the Supreme Court, or the environment. Our country needs your protection. Give your elected officials the political cover they need. Any president of any party who commits these acts at any time in history deserves impeachment.
It is a simple question of right and wrong. And not a complicated one.
There are many citizens defending the actions of January 6th. They would turn a blind eye, explain it away, or dismiss impeachment on legal technicalities. Even more people are completely disconnected from reality by internet-driven conspiracy theories.
But that person isn’t you. You can look at plain, straightforward evidence and draw reasonable conclusions. You don’t consider yourself a political person. You are just a good, law-abiding American citizen with issues you care about deeply. You vote. You do your job. You pay your taxes. You may never have written your elected officials before.
Do it today. Uncle Sam wants you. Your country needs your clear-eyed, law-abiding engagement as never before in your lifetime. Without exaggeration, our democracy is more at risk today than it has been in 150 years.
Let your Senator know you support impeachment. And let your Senator know that you will support them at the polls — and especially in the primaries! — for showing moral character. They need to hear your quiet voice, in the civil and Constitutional way. They need to hear it now, and every time you go to the polls.
